What is the future for Cochrane? Cochrane is in a very unique position being between Calgary and the mountains and Banff National Park. The town council is active in pursuing a number of projects to build the town to one of the most desirable communities in Alberta!
Cochrane Public Transit
A pilot project for 100% on demand public transit system is set to begin the summer of 2019 with full implementation in the fall.

In the works is also a transfer station to provide public transit into Calgary.
Bow River Bridge
The new bridge over the Bow River is currently under construction. See these video’s for what’s going on as well as a rendition of the completed project. Name the bridge contest is also underway.
Tri-Site Concept Plan
This is a plan to use three vacant lots in the downtown core. Ideas include a central park useable for Rodeo’s and an ice surface in winter. The smaller lots used for transit transfer station and new public library and public common area.
Annexation(North)
A 1/4 section is being annexed in the north west corner of Cochrane designated for outdoor sports use. Area to include ball diamonds, football field, rugby field etc. Some acres retained by Rocky View for plans of a new school.
Accessory Suite Regulation Project
Traffic – Highway 1A/22 Interchange
Like any fast growing town traffic eventually becomes an issue. There has been considerable discussion between various levels of government regarding the Highway 1A/22 Interchange. Construction is planned to begin in fall 2019.
